TECO Line Streetcar carries almost 25k During Final Four Weekend!

The Hillsborough Transit Authority (HART) is proud to announce that almost 25,000 trips were taken on the TECO Line Streetcar during the 2025 NCAA Women’s Final Four weekend. As fans from across the country descended on downtown Tampa for the championship festivities, the streetcar played a vital role in helping people move safely, quickly, and efficiently between key destinations.

Final Four Streetcar Ridership:

  • Thursday, April 3, 2025: 3,666
  • Friday, April 4, 2025: 5,472
  • Saturday, April 5, 2025: 9,071
  • Sunday, April 6, 2025: 6,484


HART extended service hours on Thursday and Sunday to meet increased demand, ensuring fans had reliable, late-night access to and from the festivities. Streetcars operated fare-free every 12–15 minutes across the 2.7-mile route connecting downtown Tampa, the Channel District, and historic Ybor City—with convenient access to Amalie Arena, the centerpiece of the Final Four action.


In addition to the Streetcar, Route 1 operated fare-free with service every 15–30 minutes, linking downtown with Tampa Heights and Armature Works. Route 1 is fare-free until January 2026 thanks to the City of Tampa.


“We were thrilled to help showcase Tampa as a vibrant, accessible city during one of the biggest weekends in college sports,” said HART CEO Scott Drainville. “The TECO Line Streetcar provided a smooth and scenic way for thousands of fans to experience all our downtown has to offer.”

Streetcar Service Extended for 2025 Women's Final Four


As excitement builds for the 2025 NCAA Women’s Final Four, the Hillsborough Transit Authority (HART) offers easy, stress-free ways to navigate downtown Tampa during the weekend’s events.

With thousands of fans expected, local officials encourage attendees to take advantage of fare-free transit options to avoid traffic and parking challenges. The TECO Line Streetcar will extend service hours on Thursday and Sunday until midnight for Final Four weekend. Additionally, Route 1 offers fare-free service every 15-30 minutes, providing a convenient connection from downtown to Armature Works and Tampa Heights.


Ride the Fare-Free TECO Line Streetcar


The TECO Line Streetcar provides a fare-free, 2.7-mile route connecting downtown Tampa, the Channel District, and historic Ybor City. Streetcars will operate every 12-15 minutes throughout the weekend, with service near Amalie Arena, the site of the Final Four.


Streetcar Hours During Women’s Final Four Weekend:

  • Thursday, April 3: 7:00 A.M. - MIDNIGHT* Extended service
  • Friday, April 4: 7:00 AM – 2:00 AM
  • Saturday, April 5: 8:30 AM – 2:00 AM
  • Sunday, April 6: 8:30 AM – MIDNIGHT* Extended service


HSBC Station (#9) will be closed intermittently due to fan events.

HART Services


  • Airport Service: Visitors traveling between Tampa International Airport and downtown Tampa can take advantage of HART routes 10, 30, and 32. Additionally, PSTA’s 300X connects downtown Tampa and the airport to Pinellas County.
  • Fare: Visitors can pay their HART fare with the Flamingo Fares app, or via e-wallet (Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, etc.)
  • One-Day Family Pass: Traveling with the family? HART offers a Family Pass on Flamingo Fares for $12.50, which includes unlimited 1-day rides for a Group of 5.
  • Real-Time Trip Planning: Transit app provides real-time bus and streetcar arrival information, ensuring a seamless travel experience. Plan your HART trip

The most exciting time in college basketball is here! Tampa plays host to the Women's College Basketball Semi-Final and Championship at Amalie Arena. HART would like to offer a big welcome to all the athletes, students and fans that are in town to see a champion crowned! Tampa has a number of attractions and things to do while in town.

The TECO Line Streetcar System is FREE to ride and operates on 2.7 miles of rails, connecting historic Ybor City, the Channel District (Sparkman Wharf, Florida Aquarium), and downtown Tampa.

Streetcar hours during NCAA Final Four:
    Friday - 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m.
    Saturday - 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 a.m.
    Sunday - 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.

Public Transportation During NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four

The most exciting time in college basketball is here! Tampa plays host to the NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four at Amalie Arena. HART would like to offer a big welcome to all the athletes, students and fans that are in town to see a champion crowned! Tampa has a number of attractions and things to do while in town.

Things to know about the In-Town Trolley and TECO Line Streetcar System:
  • In-Town Trolley:  The In-Town Trolley is a rubber-wheel trolley that operates on a 15-minute frequency, serving popular locations in downtown Tampa and costs only 25¢! Service operates 6:30 - 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 - 6:00 p.m.; weekdays only.
  • TECO Line Streetcar System: The streetcar line runs on rails that connects Ybor City, Channelside and Downtown Tampa.
    Streetcar hours during NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four:

    Sunday
    - Noon - 11:30 p.m. (or 30 minutes following the end of the 2nd Semifinal game).
    Monday/Tuesday - 
    9:00 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. (or 30 minutes following the end of the NCAA Women's Semifinal and Championship game
    Wednesday
    - 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
